Optimizing the energy mix of a glass furnace using machine learning

Project

A study of the optimal energy mix for a hybrid furnace, while preserving glass quality, for a major player in the luxury glass industry.

Method

We worked with the site's product R&D teams to identify the limits of physical models of glass quality. We then linked two machine learning models into a learning loop based on the temperature factor.

Result

This optimization makes it possible to predict glass quality as a function of the mix before launching production, thus reducing costs and cutting carbon emissions.

Explainable consumption forecast for a chocolate site

Project

Development of a model to predict the energy consumption of a chocolate-making site in real time.

Method

In collaboration with the site's teams, we identified the influential factors linked to production rate. We then developed an equation-based calculation using mixed linear regressions.

Finally, we deployed this algorithm through a MLOps system, for real-time use in our performance monitoring platform, ZEST.

Results

These consumption forecasts, 96% reliable, ensure better performance monitoring and support energy purchasing decisions.
