Alphaglass is the only site in the Saverglass group certified to ISO 50001. That certification, combined with the filing of an Energy Performance Plan (PPE), entitles the site to an 81% reduction in the TURPE (the tariff for using the public electricity networks) on its connection to the RTE transmission grid. Following a regulatory change, the site had to provide the DREAL (the regional environment authority) with evidence that the plan had been implemented, within a very short deadline and without the internal resources required. Lemon Energy, already a partner of the group's two other sites, was appointed to structure and formalise the plan in full.
Lemon Energy works with industrial sites subject to obligations linked to the RTE transmission grid: assessing the regulatory situation, structuring the energy action plan, running on-site workshops and producing documentation that meets DREAL requirements. Our approach combines rigorous technical analysis with the handover of monitoring tools to in-house energy teams, so that every site remains in control of its own programme long after the assignment ends.
Why did you call on Lemon Energy?
The Alphaglass team did not have the resources to take on this kind of regulatory project within the deadlines set by the DREAL. Since the two other Saverglass sites were already working with Lemon Energy on their energy audits, turning to them was the natural choice.
How did the project unfold?
The technical data had already been collected as part of ISO 50001. The Lemon Energy team came on site to complete the analysis with field observation and to run a workshop with our energy team. Together, we built a detailed plan of 26 actions. Lemon Energy knew how to guide the ideas coming from the shop floor and turn them into a formal plan, and some of the levers can only come from the site itself. We filed the PPE in 2021, then Lemon Energy continued the support in 2022 to correct the initial errors in the document and make us fully self-sufficient for the annual progress reports.
What results do you take away from it?
We benefit from the TURPE reduction, our plan is in place, and our documentation now meets ISO 50001 requirements far more precisely. All three objectives were fully met. The method and the tools Lemon Energy deployed for Alphaglass are helping us move faster towards ISO 50001 at the group's other sites.
